                Revolution 2020 is a novel by Chetan Bhagat . the main characters in this story are 3 friends Gopal, Raghav, and Aarthi,who live in Varanasi. Gopal and Raghav are classmates from the childhood and best friends. Aarthi is also their classmate. Gopal has a special affection towards Aarthi.

                Gopal comes from a middle class family. Raghav is from a high class  family, where as Aarathi comes from a political family. All of them have their own dreams. Gopal wants to become rich , Raghav's dream is to change the world, Aarthi's aim is to become an airhostess.

                After the failure in the entrance exams, Gopal's father forces him to repeat the entrance exams. But Raghav gets a good rank and joins the best  college in Varanasi. Aarthi falls in love with Raghav. Meanwhile,Gopal gets upset regarding their relationship.Therefore Gopal again has become a looser in his entrance. This event has become a great shock to Gopals poor father and he dies.

                Gopal has become so depressed, at that time he meets a powerful MLA Sukla. He is a corrupt politician ,who helps Gopal to start a new engineering college named GangaTech in his fathers land with his political and financial influence. At the same time Raghav finishes his studies and turns to social journalism . and he writes an article against the corruption of Sukla and Gopal's college.thus Gopal and Raghav have become enemies.

                After a short period, Gopal has become influenced by Raghav's ideologies to chage the world. Gopal decides to behold values in his life and gives up his love with Aarthi for his friend.

                At the end Gopal has become almost isolated, but he is rich and successful as his wish. And Raghav is a social activist who is the future MLA,wishes to change the society .
